Neuro-Ophthalmology and Visual Pathways

Neuro-ophthalmology examines visual disorders associated with the optic nerve, brain, and visual pathways. This session will cover optic neuropathies, visual field abnormalities, pupil disorders, ocular motility disturbances, double vision, and neurological conditions that affect vision. Discussions will focus on clinical assessment, differential diagnosis, neuroimaging, electrophysiological investigations, and multidisciplinary care. The relationship between neurological diseases and visual dysfunction will also be explored, including approaches to identifying vision-related symptoms that may indicate underlying neurological conditions. Advances in diagnostic technology and research will be considered for their potential to support earlier recognition, more accurate diagnosis, and improved management of complex visual disorders.
