Vision Science and the Biology of Visual Function

Vision science provides important insights into the biological, neurological, and perceptual processes involved in visual function. This session will explore retinal physiology, photoreceptor function, visual processing, neural pathways, visual perception, eye movements, and the interaction between the visual system and the brain. Discussions will address how basic scientific discoveries can contribute to a better understanding of visual disorders and support the development of improved diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. Emerging areas such as computational vision science, visual neuroscience, advanced imaging, and experimental models of ocular disease will also be considered. The session will encourage collaboration between vision scientists, ophthalmologists, neuroscientists, engineers, and researchers working to advance the understanding of human vision.
